Feb 23rd, 2010...A few items to discuss today...first, we wanted to discus parking. There IS parking in the rear of the building. If you turn down Oakwood there is a back alley on your immediate left. If you turn down that alley we are the second parking area on the left. There are about 8 tandem parking spots there, so, feel free to take advantage of them (although you will have to walk around to the front of the building to enter the restaurant). Also, you can park in the Beverly Center...it's just one block to our South! Right now the parking area is unlit, but we'll be putting in lighting later this week.

Second, we have altered our hours of operation. We had originally planned to close on Tuesdays but have now decided to close on Mondays instead.

Feb 21st, 2010...Johnny and I want to thank all our loyal followers who made it over to the restaurant. We'd also like to thank all the wonderful new customers we've met since we opened on Feb 12th. It's been a hectic 10 days but exhilirating also. We now have our full menu available including a few new items such as VEGAN SAUSAGE and HOTDOGS and SAUERKRAUT and CHEESE, HOMEMADE ICE CREAM, and, several dipping sauces for our fries and homemade potato chips. And, as promised, we'll be having a new line up of chili varieties this Wednesday...don't miss out.

Feb 16th, 2010...OK, we're restocked and ready to roll tomorrow. Don't miss out as we'll be adding cornbread and another VEGAN chili to our menu. I've also added a new link on our website to let you all see the chili and sausage varieties we'll have each week. Check it out to see if your favorite chili is offered this week!

Feb 15th, 2010...Well, it's been a wild opening! We didn't know what to expect but the reception has been terrific. Unfortunately, the reception was so good WE WILL BE CLOSED TUESDAY, FEB 16th, to restock our supplies. But, don't panic, we'll be back to our regular schedule starting Wed at noon.

Feb 12th, 2010...Johnny and I want to thank everyone who stopped by today to make our first public opening a great success! It was a very gratifying day as we got to talk with many old friends and to make many new friends. We'll be putting up our "GRAND OPENING" banner tomorrow...it's quite eye catching...hope we don't cause any accidents on La Cienega, :)

Feb 11th, 2010...It's been two days of staff training and a "soft" opening to friends and family, and, things have gone well, so, tomorrow we'll be open at high noon. We will be starting with a limited menu, just 4 chili varieties (Prime Rib, Spicy Serrano Sirloin, Mole Verde, and Hominy Chorizo (a VEGAN chili). We'll also have our famous homemade hotdogs and 3 varieties of our homemade chicken sausage (Bratwurst, Cilantro, and Chorizo). In addition, we'll have homemade potato chips and Johnny's fantastic Caesar salad! OK, please join us tomorrow as we kick off our official opening, :)

Feb 8th, 2010...Well, great news...finally! The health inspector was out today and passed us in full. We are now free to open! Our plan is to continue with a bit more staff training and to open to the public this Friday. So, the long wait is finally over.

Feb 6th, 2010...We originally intended to sell at the Hollywood Farmer's Market this Superbowl Sunday, but, due to the high demand for chili at MANY Superbowl parties in the area we won't have time to attend the market this week. But, don't let that discourage you as we have made MUCH chili...just give us a call if you'd like a delivery or want to pick some up for your own party! Available tomorrow are the following chili varieties: Prime Rib, Spicy Serrano Sirloin, Mole Verde, and Hominy Chorizo (VEGAN). Looks like tomorrow is going to be a busy day, so, you should call early to make sure you don't miss out!

Feb 4nd, 2010...Well, good news/bad news...the health dept partially approved us. So, we are ok to train the staff but we are not allowed to serve food. We're sorry to make you all wait once more, but, the health department folks are a difficult bunch. So, right now the plan is to open Wednesday, Feb 10th.

Feb 2nd, 2010...Not too much to report...things are still on schedule for a weekend opening. We have an appointment with the inspector on Thursday...let's hope all goes well, :)

Jan 30th, 2010...I'm sorry to say that we won't be at the Hollywood Farmer's Market this weekend. While we won't be at the market we do have limited quantities of frozen pints of chili available...call us at 323 203 1793 if you want to pick up a frozen pint or two. If things work out well this week you'll be able to get your chili "fix" next Sunday at our new restaurant at 408 N La Cienega! Thank you for your patience.

Jan 29th, 2010...Well, today was the final health department inspection and the inspector found a few problems. So, we have to fix those problems before we get approved and can open. We'll have all the work completed by the end of tomorrow, but, the inspector doesn't work on Mondays, so, we won't get her approval until Tuesday or Wednesday of next week....the wait continues!

Jan 27th, 2010...Good News! We had our final electrical, plumbing, and building safety inspections today and passed them all. So, one more inspection to go which is scheduled for Friday morning. If that goes well we'll have a "soft opening" this weekend. A soft opening means we are technically open to the public but we're really trying to work out any kinks. Soon after that we'll have an official Grand Opening!

Jan 24th, 2010...No more news to report right now...inspections still scheduled for this week...but...wanted to give you all a sneak peek at the dining area...

Jan 21st, 2010...The inspections today went very well! We were planning to have the final buiding inspection tomorrow but due to the city's budget crisis the inspectors no longer work on Friday, so, we've had to push that inspection off until Monday. Anyway, we're still on track to have a soft opening next week and the grand opening SOON after.

Jan 19th, 2010...So, the water heater work has been completed and the inspection process shall now resume! So, the next few days are going to very busy...

Jan 15th, 2010...Well, things are going well resolving the water heater problem. The contractor told us it would take 3 days to fix the problem, and, they've been working on it for two days now and are nearly complete. So, if all goes well we can resume our inspection process on Tuesday.

In other news, since we aren't opening as planned this week we WILL be at the Hollywood Farmer's Market on Sunday. And, we're also going to be testing a new product this week. We've been asked many times by our vegan friends to offer a tofu or soy hot dog...so...we'll be offering that this weekend!

Jan 13th, 2010...We had a setback today. One of the inspectors found a problem with the water heater. It will take three days to correct, so, that's set us back a bit. On a brighter note we installed the light over the front sign so you can see us at night now!

Jan 11th, 2010...The inspections continue...so far so good...but, it takes so long to get the inspectors to show up. I'll have a lot more news after Thursday.

Jan 8th, 2010...If you happened to drive by the store today you would have noticed that the Chili Addiction sign has been completed (check out the picture below). You can't quite see it but the letters are now raised away from the surface giving a depth and "pop" to the sign. As you can see it really impressed that guy and his dog. So, the outside of the building is nearly complete...just some minor touchup painting required.

Jan 7th, 2010...Alright! The inspections this week went well. Two more to go next week and we're set to go, :)

Jan 4th, 2010...it was a productive weekend. We now have all the necessary construction completed to call for inspections! Let's hope all goes well with the inspectors, ;) If so, we'll be sending out an email this week to all of our followers letting them know of our expected opening date. If you wish to get on our email list just email a request to us at info@chiliaddiction.com and we'll be sure to add you.

December 31st, 2009...today was a good day...the contractors showed up and much was accomplished! Next week is inspection week....if all goes well we could open have a "soft" opening by the end of the week.

December 30th, 2009...today was a very annoying day...we didn't realize it but apparently we hired contractors related to the Wicked Witch of the West. So, when it rains, they remain at home safely tucked away indoors where there is no chance of any rain drops contacting their skin and causing them to melt away to nothingness in a great puff of smoke. Hopefully, the skies will clear tomorrow and the contractors will venture forth from the safety of their hiding places and get some work done on our store.

December 29th, 2009...today was a good day...the contractors showed up and got a lot of work done! Also, the tables and chairs arrived today...they look great. We also got all the silverware, plates, and glasses in today. So, hopefully the contractors will make good progress tomorrow as well and we can get our first of threee inspections completed Thursday. With the short week that means we'll have to wait until next week to get the subsequent two inspections completed.

December 28th, 2009...according to the contractor it was supposed to be a busy weekend, but, that didn't happen...guess they were all recovering from their Christmas feasts. So, today is supposed to be a busy day with nearly all the remaining details being completed...we'll see. If that does happen then we'll have inspections completed this week and we can meet our Jan 4th date....stay tuned, :) On another note, we want to thank all our regular customers (and some new customers as well) for making it out to the Farmer's Market yesterday! Hopefully we'll see you all soon at the restaurant.

December 21st, 2009...so, here's the low down...contractors are annoying "people", lol. There has been progress but it doesn't appear as though we are going to get all the inspections done this week, :( Anyway, the dining room is now complete, the countertop is done, the cash register system is done, and all the electrical is done. We're disappointed that things are moving so slowly, but, this is a difficult time of year. OK, stay tuned for more info tomorrow or Wednesday, :)

December 18th, 2009...it's been a busy few days...the interior dining area is nearly complete. The tables and chairs should arrive early next week! As for the exterior of the building we've resolved the problem with the one design element and should have a final fix in a few weeks. Work will continue tomorrow when we should have the dining area and kitchen completed. So, we're still on track to have inspections next week and our initial opening the following week. OK, that's all for now; more news to come after the weekend.

December 15th, 2009...we wanted to keep everyone up to date on what's going on at the restaurant. We had hoped to have all the construction work completed last week but the rains ALL WEEK set us back. So, this week we are hoping to finish the remaining construction, get city and county inspections scheduled next week, and open the following week. We spent most of today getting the outside of the building completed, but things didn't go quite as planned. Without going into too much gory detail, let's just say one of the design elements didn't come out as we had hoped. We decided to go with what was delivered but there will be changes in the works in the coming weeks. Oh well, such is life...it's disappointing, but nothing that will cause us to delay our opening. Anyway, that's all for now...stay tuned here as we'll try to have daily updates with our progress!

December 3rd, 2009...so, things have been going well with the restaurant construction. The kitchen equipment is all in place, some small modifications to the interior are nearly completed, and, if you drive over in the La Cienega area you've probably noticed the painting has begun! Next week we'll be getting the remaining work completed on the exterior of the building (painting, molding, and a Chili Addiction sign!)

NOVEMBER 18th, 2009... Chili Addiction is proud to announce that we have signed the lease on our first restaurant location! Our new home is located at 408 N La Cienega Blvd. It's one block north of the Beverly Center. You may remember the space as the Boule Bakery. The building has been divided into two units and we are renting the north unit. Stay tuned to learn more about our opening date (early December) and the soon to follow GRAND OPENING.

Septempber 14th, 2009...Last week was an exhausting week as Chili Addiction attended the 28th Malibu Chili Cookoff. As with last year we were a big hit. We sold over 40 gallons in two days! Unfortunately, due to a last minute rules change we were unable to participate in the competition, so, we just sold lots of chili, mustard, and hot sauces, reunited with many of the friends we made last year, and made many new friends! See you next year Malibu :)

August 9th, 2009...Johnny's been busy this week...5 new items on our menu! We've added a new mustard to our ever growing repertoire: Yellow Mustard.
